FAQs

What can I expect?

Once you call or message us, we will reach out to you. You can expect to hear from us within 1-2 business days. During the phone call, I will get a little more information about what’s going on, let you know how I can help and from there, we will schedule your first appointment for an intake. I will email you paperwork to fill out prior to that visit so we can focus on you on your visit and not paperwork.

Can we meet in person?

Sure! I offer both in person options as well as virtual.

What will therapy look like? Will I need to lay down on the couch and retell my childhood???

Therapy won’t look like that, I promise! I strive to create a supportive and safe environment where you can explore your current thoughts and needs. My therapeutic approach incorporates several major theories of counseling. I start from a perspective of wellness and look at a whole person. I tailor my particular focus to the needs of the client(s). I tend to pull from cognitive behavioral therapy, existential therapy, solution-focused brief therapy and Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy. I believe that every individual possesses the strength and potential to work through life problems. I seek to help my clients discover this potential and learn skills and strategies that will help them achieve their goals through empowering my clients and providing them with conditions for personal growth.

The counseling process involves a collaborative relationship between client and counselor in an open environment where clients are free to share their thoughts and feelings honestly. Thus, your active participation and personal work outside of sessions are essential for counseling to be effective. I may ask you to try various things outside of the counseling hour to help you reach your goal.

What are your rates?

My intake is $175 and runs for 50-55 min. All follow-up appointments $150 for individuals or couples. Follow-up appointments also run 50-55 min. I also offer a sliding scale should that be a need for you. Just ask!

Do you accept insurance?

At this time, I accept Aetna and BCBS. If you are not in one of those two networks or prefer to pay out of pocket, I can provide an itemized receipt monthly by request that you can submit to your insurance company directly to get reimbursed.

How long will I need to come?

Such a great question and SO hard to answer! Honestly, it depends on a variety of factors. Some problems require only a few visits to begin feeling more in control of the situation, while others take longer. Unfortunately, there is no magic number.

Sounds great! When can I get started???

Making the call is the first step. We would love to set up a time to chat for a 10-15 minute call where we can assess your problem and help you determine if we are a good fit for you. Usually we can do that within a day or two of you reaching out!
